**The Student Associate Program is distinct from our Internship Program. Both offer meaningful professional experience, with differences in structure, exposure, and learning focus aligned to their respective objectives.** Our Student Associate Program offers college students the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on work experience while supporting key business functions during the summer months.
Student Associates play an important role in contributing to day-to-day operations, assisting with projects, and learning how their academic studies connect to real-world applications.
The program is designed to provide meaningful work experience in a professional environment without the structure of a formal internship, while still allowing participants to build skills, expand networks, and make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market and sales research , including analysis of market data, customer segments, and competitive trends
- Identify emerging product and market trends and provide insights on how OSI can respond strategically
- Support targeted prospecting efforts through research and segmentation analysis
- Assist in gathering and synthesizing customer feedback to inform sales strategy and product development
- Collaborate with sales and operations teams to support customer-focused initiatives
- Shadow sales and business development professionals to gain real-world sales exposure
- Participate in plant tours to understand products, operations, and manufacturing capabilities
- Gain customer exposure through meetings, calls, and site visits (as appropriate)
- Build professional skills in research, communication, and business analysis
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and trends
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with CRM tools a plus
Work Environment
Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyor (may depend on the role).
- Work conditions are typical of an office & plant environment.
- This role does not require any domestic travel
- Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 15 pounds
- Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
- Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Less than 4 hours.
