We are always accepting and reviewing applications, and a member of our team will be in touch via email if we'd like to discuss your application further.Essential FunctionsGreet all guests in a kind and open manner.Provide friendly, efficient, and personal service to each guest.Build rapport with guests by learning their names and favorite drinks.Educate guests on all of our products and services.Maintain high quality and consistent product standards.Accurately process transactions in the POS system.Stay informed of new coffee availability and attributes - from batch to retail offerings.Taste coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standardsProvide coffee and product feedback to managers and the Commonplace Coffee roasting team.Dial-in espresso equipment in accordance with quality standards and directives.Batch and restock items as necessary to keep the shop functioning optimally.Maintain a clean and welcoming shop, both in the cafe and behind the bar, for all guests and fellow employees.Arrive on time executing effective shifts that set fellow employees up for success.Communicate with team members and management to solve problems, suggest new specials/ideas, and improve service.Support a positive work environment.Perform other duties as assigned by shop manager and supervisors.Deliver orders to various hospital floors (IRMC location).Bake fresh cookies using Commonplace Bakery provided ingredients (IRMC location).Assist wholesale clients in picking up their wholesale orders (Campus Edge location).QualificationsStrength in interacting with and caring for people and community.Passion and enthusiasm for coffee.Ability to provide personal and professional customer service.Knowledge of coffee shops and specialty retail.Desire to educate others about coffee and espresso methods.Strong attention to detail and respect for cleanliness and sanitation.Enthusiasm for providing a quality experience in our shops.High integrity and personal responsibility.Openness to criticism with a constant desire to improve.Ability to multi-task with ease and problem solve under challenging conditions.Alignment with Commonplace Coffee mission, vision, and values.Physical DemandsStand and walk must be able to stand for 4-8 hour shifts and move about the shop.Perform repetitive tasks must be able to complete repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and forearms to operate espresso machinery.Taste and smell must be able to detect and perceive the taste and smell of coffee.Oral communication must be able to clearly and effectively communicate with customers and team members.Carry weight, lift must be able to lift up to 5 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.Work environmentWork is performed at the coffee shop.The work environment can be noisy.This job involves high amounts of customer interaction.Supervisory responsibilitiesNone.90 Day goalsSatisfactory completion of Commonplace Coffee training program.Effective demonstration of the ability to work without supervision and with other team members.Effective demonstration of the ability to complete required tasks in a timely manner.Effective demonstration of the ability to communicate with management team.Additional BenefitsBarista shifts are tip eligiblePaid Time OffMedical, Dental and Vision Plans with 50% employer coverage401(k) Retirement Savings ProgramParental LeaveCompany Discounts
