Overview

Western Dental - Oral Surgeon Assistants perform their responsibilities as dental auxiliaries in accordance with the state Dental Practice Act. Experienced Oral Surgeon Assistants are responsible for maintaining excellent communication with our doctors and assisting them in all aspects of patient care. Our Oral Surgeon Assistants are trained to be experts in making our patients comfortable during treatment and providing an unparalleled customer experience. They receive additional training to learn new skills, and Western Dental offers programs to help new assistants master necessary dental and customer service skills for growth within our organization. Must have a current radiation safety certificate for the state of practice. Western Oral Surgeon Assistants also take x-rays as directed by the Oral Surgeon, with training in dental x-ray procedures and infection control. They excel in making patients comfortable during x-ray procedures and delivering an exceptional patient experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Oral Surgeon during patient treatment.
• Anticipate the dentists needs and prepare accordingly.
• Follow all OSHA, Dental Board, and Western Dental policies and procedures.
• Maintain accurate patient treatment records.
• Take blood pressure measurements.
• Provide pre- and post-operative instructions as directed by the Oral Surgeon.
• Offer oral hygiene instructions to patients.
• Prepare equipment and units before patient procedures.
• Stock supplies in treatment areas, restrooms, and labs as needed.
• Notify the Floor Supervisor when supplies need reordering or equipment is malfunctioning.
• Perform sterilization duties when necessary.
• Build rapport with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as an RDA in the applicable state (CA, AZ, NV).
• Current X-Ray License.
• CPR and ACLS certificates required; OMSA or DAANCE preferred.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Willingness to travel.
• Open availability.
