Xaira is an innovative biotech startup focused on leveraging AI to transform drug discovery and development. The company is leading the development of generative AI models to design protein and antibody therapeutics, enabling the creation of medicines against historically hard-to-drug molecular targets. It is also developing foundation models for biology and disease to enable better target elucidation and patient stratification. Collectively, these technologies aim to continually enable the identification of novel therapies and to improve success in drug development. NeurIPS 2025
We’re excited to share that we’ll be at NeurIPS 2025 in San Diego ! Both our Computational Protein Design and BioMedical AI team will be looking forward to connecting with exceptional AI Research Engineers and AI Scientists at all levels and potentially meet in person this December!

Qualifications (AI Research Engineer)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.


• Minimum of two years of industry experience in AI, machine learning, or related roles, with a track record of successfully implementing and deploying AI models in production environments.


• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, and experience with relevant libraries, toolchain and frameworks for AI model development.


• Strong understanding of deep learning fundamentals, including neural network architectures, optimization techniques, and evaluation metrics.


• Familiarity with drug discovery processes, computational chemistry, or bioinformatics is desirable.


• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for tackling complex challenges in healthcare.


• Publication track record at conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.


• Experience applying LLM + RAG to biomedical or healthcare use cases.


• Knowledge of multimodal model development (text, omics, imaging).

Qualifications (AI Scientist)

• Track record of AI Innovation demonstrated through publications in Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning or projects applying them to interdisciplinary fields


• Experienced in PyTorch, training and inference of large models on GPUs


• PhD in Computer Science/Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning or related technical fields


• 3+ years of work experience post-PhD in an industrial setting or equivalent academic post-doctoral experience


• Peer reviewed published research in developing AI methods (example in ICLR, NeurIPS, ICML, Nature, Science, Cell etc.)


• Hands-on experience with foundation models or large-scale self-supervised learning (e.g., transformers, variational autoencoders).


• Strong expertise in single-cell data analysis, particularly perturb-seq 


• Familiarity with multi-omics integration and multi-modal foundation models.


• Experience in working at the interface of AI and Biology

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, seeking to provide an open, flexible, and friendly work environment to empower employees and provide them with a platform to develop their long-term careers. A Summary of Benefits is available for all applicants. We offer a competitive package that includes base salary, bonus, and equity. The base pay range for this position is expected to be $120,000 - $240,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
